Steve Meckfessel founded SRM Associates in 1992 with the mission of demystifying the development process for clients. He envisioned a company that would provide a full range of services to meet the long-term needs of growing Bay Area firms, and offer attractive, stable investments for its capital providers. From the outset, the firm has valued its relationships with clients, tenants, investors, lenders, consultants and communities at large. This interest has evolved into a strong commitment to sustainable- development practices and toward the adoption of “triple bottom line” performance.

Steve was formerly with the accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells, specializing in the real-estate and hospitality industries. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1980, and is also licensed as a real-estate broker and as a general contractor. Several years ago, he was asked to develop a course for the International Development Research Council on “Build-to-Suits: The Corporate Perspective” which he presented throughout the United States.  Steve is also a regular lecturer at the Haas Graduate School of Business at UC Berkeley. He received his M.B.A. from UC Berkeley in 1978.

Steve has served on the non-profit boards of Habitat for Humanity and Freight & Salvage in Berkeley. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, and is a songwriter and plays guitar in “Stone Soup”, a vintage rock-and-roll band. Steve is married and has two children.
