Since joining SRM in 1999, Joe Ernst has managed several development projects throughout the Bay Area including the 75-acre Harbor Bay Business Park waterfront development. Highlights of the property are a new LEED-certified roasting facility for Peet’s Coffee & Tea and the 189,000-square-foot, nine-building North Loop Center.

Joe's background in corporate development and investment banking has provided him with the ability to quickly and effectively move through the predevelopment phase of a project. This includes the completion of entitlements and complex financing arrangement and the development of financial proformas and budgets. It also involves managing the design process by effectively balancing the user's wants and needs with schedule and budget.

Before joining SRM, Joe was director of corporate development for a global corporate training company responsible for developing a merger and acquisition and capital development strategy. He was also involved in the management of a $1-billion bond fund consisting of distressed loans secured by commercial real estate.

Joe graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas in 1990, receiving a B.A. in business finance and computer science.  Joe lives in Alameda with his wife and son and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including bicycle racing and snow camping.
